What does it mean to wear a teardrop?

Tears are a symbol of sadness and grief, but also of catharsis and relief.

Nothing is more bittersweet than a teardrop, nothing more tender, or more beautiful. It’s through tears that the pain moves through our souls. 

The burn of a tear is also the pomade for the pain. 

This bittersweetness always makes me think of the title of the book by Francoise Sagan Ozon and the 1958 film by Otto Preminger based on it “Bonjour Tristesse”. You wake up and you accept your fate and that pain is part of life and there is no running away from it. You go through it with grace, humility, and patience. 

Wear your heart on your sleeve. Tender pain.
